Hey boo!!
First of all, welcome to my little corner of the web! Please allow me to introduce myself as your new unofficial favorite black boudoir photographer! haha! In my head, even though I’m not a famous black woman photographer(yet), I’m ready to shoot Rihanna and her Savage X Fenty line. Yes, friend, I’m using this fucking blog space to manifest that collaboration in the future, if not sooner!
Although I am not the biggest fan of blogging about myself, I do understand that when booking such an intimate experience as a boudoir session, you should at least know a little bit about your photographer! So I’m writing this blog post to do just that! It feels right to incorporate boudoir photography into my life after being a destination wedding photographer for 13 years. As an added bonus, I also use boudoir photography to empower and uplift my fellow black and brown women. As of the time of writing this blog post, there are 350+ members in my free women empowerment community. Please join us! A Black female photographer (me Kendra Lynece of course) operates and owns our LGBTQ+ friendly community!
In my boudoir community, I recently invited them to ask me anything they wanted to know about me. I think this blog post would be the perfect place to share some of those answers and questions!
Q: What gets you out of bed every day? (Besides your handsome son)
Every day is different honestly. Some days it is my community and my clients, other days it is my long ass list of goals. Even just knowing I have another day to breathe and watch the sunrise gives me hope during tough times in my life.
Q: What would be the best advice for any of our ladies who are thinking about a boudoir session to feel comfortable in front of the camera? And advice to feel comfortable and confident in their beautiful bodies?
Start looking in the mirror and affirming yourself. Start seeing what’s right in yourself instead of focusing on what the outside world says is wrong! People say xyz about stretch marks, but those same marks carried your body through life. Take the time to validate yourself, your body, and your life experiences. Make the decision to surround yourself with people who love themselves and are trying to improve themselves. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, people who can’t love themselves will also find ways to drag you down into their own misery and despair. (Been there, done that) Also, remember that you’re allowed to grow and change, and you must practice a tremendous amount of self-forgiveness and self-patience.
Q: What keeps you motivated? Why boudoir?
I was someone who was bullied A LOT growing up for many different reasons. The same tactics are also used by big corporations to get us to purchase products out of fear of aging, weight gain, dark spots, etc. Now I’m on the opposite side of the industry, letting women know how awesome, magnificent, and valuable they are right now. Women’s empowerment is the key to my small business’s growth. Mainstream media profits from insecurities.
I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed creating it! Let me know if you know how I can reach Rihanna and her Savage X line! While you’re at it, send my best friends Beyonce and Megan The Stallion, too! I appreciate you taking the time to get to know me! I’d love to get to know you as well, and there are a few ways we can do that! How? Just share a comment below or fill out the contact form, or come join us in the community! New friend, I’m looking forward to getting to know you, new best friend!
I wish you all the best and blessings this universe has to offer you boo!
